[Pak Daily Times] The federal government is considering barring all ministers from giving statements during the dialogue process with the Taliban following the recent interview of Defence Minister Khawaja Asif to a foreign news agency. According to sources, the recent statements of Khawaja Asif have made the issue complex, adding that the Nawaz still believed that a political solution could only resolve the sensitive issue. Efforts are underway to make the dialogue process more effective, the sources added. Earlier on Friday, Khawaja Asif said that a military operation against the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistain (TTP) in the tribal areas might be launched in March. "It will not take months now. We'll have to march in the month of March," the minister said in an interview to Rooters. He had said that the government would not hesitate bombing bully boy hideouts or sending forces into the tribal areas if the Taliban did not abide by the ceasefire announced last weekend. |
