Two female defense volunteers shot in southern Thailand |
2014-02-27 |
Two female village defense volunteers were shot and wounded in Narathiwat province yesterday morning in what police suspected was part of the regional insurgency. The two were returning on a motorcycle from doing an errand when they were followed by two men on a motorcycle, before the pillion rider opened fire at them. Earlier, a roadside bomb went off and hit an armored truck in which Chanae district chief Traitip Sakulpradit and five security volunteers were traveling. The 25kg home-made bomb, which left a 90cm-deep, 80cm-wide crater near the shrapnel-ridden truck, was detonated by a communication radio. |
