| Algeria despatches riot police to Ghardaia |

| [MAGHAREBIA] Algerian riot police arrived in Ghardaia on Monday (January 20th) to quell ethnic festivities between Ibadite and Malikite youths, APS reported. Schools and stores shut down following the violence that erupted on Sunday. One man was stabbed to death. Another 10 people were maimed, including three coppers, Interior Minister Tayeb Belaiz said. More than thirty business and residences have been looted or torched. |
