Somalis continue to come home from South Sudan

MOGADISHU -- Federal Government of Somalia declared that it will continue the repatriation of Somali citizens from South Sudan following the arrival of the first group in Mogadishu on Monday, Garowe Online reports.

The caretaker Foreign Affairs Minister Fowsiyo Yusuf Haji Adan Tuesday said: “The Somali Federal Government will never slow down its role in saving and reinforcing the dignity of Somali citizens in response to President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud’s demand”.

Adan told reporters that the government has been hiring special flights for the Somali people who are fleeing from the armed confrontations in the embattled country.

“The president has felt the deplorable conditions that our citizens are continuing to face in South Sudan,” she said.

The first group flown into Mogadishu was composed of 131 persons and they were transported by police buses from Adan Adde International airport.

Independent sources in South Sudan tell GO that many Somali citizens have been queuing for repatriation flights at UN camp as hundreds are still stranded in the city of Bor in Jonglei State, which the South Sudanese
