Troops Find 6-Ton Explosives Cache in Mali
2013-12-31
[An Nahar] French and Chadian troops have destroyed almost six tons of explosives and weapons found in Mali's rebel-infested desert north, the United Nations
...an organization which on balance has done more bad than good, with the good not done well and the bad done thoroughly...
said on Monday.

The Chadian soldiers, from the U.N.'s MINUSMA peacekeeping mission, were patrolling an area near the Algerian border with troops from La Belle France's Operation Serval when they made the discovery, a U.N. statement said.

#2  Pix or it didn't happen.
You can move six tons in a big truck along a decent road. Then your depot needs to be near the decent road.

Or you can move six tons in a lot of small vehicles over lousy terrain.
Somebody should notice.

Or you can get something like an off road five-ton military vehicle.
Somebody's in on it.

Like to know if the stash was "discovered" by patrols, discovered because intel sent the patrols into the area without telling why, or busted by intel.

#1  The statement said the destruction of 5.7 tons of ammonium nitrate and some 40 grenades had dealt "another severe blow to the resources of terrorist groups."

The real "blow" comes when you flatten the manufacturing facilities which produces and ship the AN. We've really never made that bold leap in Afghanistan however. The facilities belong to our friends in Pakistan. In fact the Pakistani Fatima Group recently attempted to build a plant along the Ohio river in Indiana. It was only constituent pressure on congress that precluded it from happening.
