U.S. Calls for Closer Security Cooperation with Russia after Bombings
2013-12-31
[An Nahar] The United States on Monday called for closer security cooperation with Russia ahead of the Sochi Winter Olympics, after two deadly bombings in the city of Volgograd.

"The U.S. government has offered our full support to the Russian government in security preparations for the Sochi Olympic Games, and we would welcome the opportunity for closer cooperation for the safety of the athletes, spectators, and other participants," National Security Council spokeswoman Caitlin Hayden said in a statement.

At least 14 people were killed Monday when a jacket wallah went kaboom! on a packed trolleybus in the city during the morning rush hour. On Sunday, another similar attack claimed 17 lives.

#5  Will be interesting to see what Putin does. As the Hearst publishing used to say "follow the money"
The Saudis have already admitted that they finance and control the Chechnyan terrorists.
Should the terrorists disrupt the Winter Olympics, will he let The Soddies get away with it?

#3  Exactly my sentiments P2kontheroad. Worked CT for 25 years and our current approach is not efficient and hindered by PC and accommodation to Islamists.

#2  yes, given how they treated the warning about the Boston bombers, the Russians are probably justified in their natural paranoia that this is just another way for intelligence gathering against them. It's not like this administration is gathering such stuff by the billion bits on its own people and bugging systems. /sarc off
