Russia is not a guarantor of chemical weapon disarmament in Syria, the Foreign Minister of Russia Sergey Lavrov said, RIA Novosti reported. "We have secured Syria's accession to the Chemical Weapons Convention, without any reservations - unlike the Americans, who have joined the Convention with reservations," the Minister said. "Now, Syria is a party of this legally binding document. Therefore the entire world community is the guarantor of Syria's fulfilment of its obligations under the convention. And in this case, the OPCW is this guarantor".
Answering the question, whether the rates of chemical disarmament, taken by Russian and Damascus are inflated, Lavrov said that the rates were agreed with American colleagues in Geneva".
"The vast majority of digital indicators on the time, duration, beginning and end of operations were proposed by the Americans," Russian Foreign Minister added.
