| House GOP launches shutdown battle by voting to defund Obamacare | |

| With one vote on Friday, the Republican-led House launched the latest spending battle in Congress -- one that could bring a government shutdown in less than two weeks. By a 230-189 tally almost strictly on party lines, the House passed a short-term government spending plan that would eliminate all funding for Obamacare. The measure now goes to the Democratic-led Senate, which is certain to reject the provision

The two-stage process includes a possible government shutdown at the end of the current fiscal year on September 30 if there is no compromise on a spending resolution, followed by a potentially even more rancorous debate over raising the debt ceiling. | |

| #7 Not all the Republicans in the Senate are guaranteed to vote to defund. Many more of them are old-fashioned, big government types, who would rather be collegial than win. (Yes, I am thinking of Senator McCain. Why do you ask?) |

| #5 Why does the House have to 'defund'? All appropriations must originate in the House. 1-just don't fund it. 2-do like the Donks, misappropriate it like the Social Security tax since the 1960s. All the toys and special interests funding goes into Obamacare eating it up. Oops, no more money to fund the crony subcontractors. |

| #2 Nothing good will come out of this. Internally the republicans are a fighting mess. Externally their messages seem child like and amateurish, and in a no win situation. The Republicans need to fix their party, like we called for in 08. The way it stands the Dems will own the white house for another 8 years if the republicans don't get their acts together... |
