Putin Says Berlusconi Would Not Have Faced Trial 'if He Was Gay'

...former Italian prime minister, known for his plain (for a European politician) speaking and his liking for hookers a third his age or less...
 would not have gone on trial for sex with a minor if he was gay.

"Berlusconi is on trial for living with women, but if he were a homosexual, nobody would dare touch him," Putin said during a discussion with international experts and journalists at the Valdai Club in the northwestern Novgorod region.

The remark was met by roars of laughter from the audience.
I really, really dislike being put in a position where I'd have to agree with Putin and share in the laugh...
Berlusconi, 76, is appealing a conviction for having sex with an underage prostitute nicknamed Ruby the Heart Stealer.

#2  That's all very well, but the gentleman didn't exactly set Italy up to be a financial success either, despite his personal financial acumen. Italy has not done itself proud in the politicians its system has thrown up for voters to choose among, the past several decades, when Mr Berlusconi was the best option.
