On Thursday, at age 29, his journey apparently ended. Amriki -- "the American" -- was gunned down in a southern Somali village in an attack ordered by al-Shabab's top leaders. He had fallen out with that militia in a long and bitter struggle over influence and ideology. Reports of his death have proven false before, but the reports appear credible this time. Neither the Somali government nor al-Shabab has acknowledged the attack. Amriki and another foreign fighter, Osama al-Britani, a British citizen of Pakistani origin, were apparently killed in an early morning ambush in a village in southern Somalia. For months, Amriki warned that al-Shabab's leaders were trying to kill him. In April, he tweeted: "Their goal is to kill us regardless of reason." | |

#3 He had fallen out with that militia in a long and bitter struggle over influence and ideology Meaning the Shaboob leadership, like the leadership of most movements, found that it was better to live the good life than live a good life, and those 'committed to the cause' become a nuisance. Chicago way and all that. Barry would understand. |

#2 maybe his parents loved him, maybe not. Nobody else did, apparently |

#1 SO good, it bears repeating. I'm OK if it shows up tomorrow, as well. |
