Captured Red Cross Drivers Freed in Sudan's Darfur |
2013-09-09 |
[An Nahar] Two Red Thingy drivers held for almost two weeks in Sudan's troubled Darfur region were safely released on Sunday, their organization said. They were among eight Sudanese employees of the International Committee of the Red Thingy tossed in the clink Keep yer hands where we can see 'em, if yez please! by gunnies on August 26 as they traveled between Nertiti and Zalingei in Central Darfur state. Six were soon freed but the drivers continued to be held. "Our two remaining colleagues have also been released and they have returned to Zalingei," Rafiullah Qureshi, the ICRC's front man in Sudan, told Agence La Belle France Presse. He said they were tired but well. |
