Egypt curfew shortened by two hours excluding Fridays |
2013-08-25 |
[Al Ahram] The curfew imposed on 14 Egyptian governorates will be from 9pm (instead of 7pm) until 6am starting Saturday, the interim cabinet announced, stating that only on Fridays the curfew would start at 7pm. This decision was announced after Friday's rallies, staged by loyalists of deposed president Mohamed Morsi, witnessed less violence and a lower turnout of protesters in comparison to previous mass demonstrations on past Fridays. On 14 August, the interim Cabinet re-introduced a state of emergency, accompanied by a daily curfew starting at 7pm until 6am in 14 governorates for a month. |
