Saudis and French side with anti -Moslem Brotherhood military | |

Saudi Arabia and France have agreed on giving Egypt's roadmap a "chance," Al Arabiya reported the kingdom's Foreign Minister Saudi al-Faisal as saying Sunday. "We have agreed on giving the roadmap in Egypt a chance to fulfill security and early elections," al-Faisal said after meeting with France's President Francois Hollande. [the fact that the Saudis would opt for a joint announcement w the French is fairly obviously a slap at Obama] After ousting Egypt's Islamist President Mohammed Muri on July 3, the country's army chief General Abdel Fattah al-Sisi announced the roadmap which includes temporary suspension of the constitution, early presidential elections and a review of proposed amendments to the constitution by experts and a wide-range of Egyptians. [Saudis have been among the most anti MBrotherhood of any country in the MEast, and their money speaks loudly-- presumably they were frightened that the MB would destabilize Egypt irrevocably and that would ultimately destabilize SArabia itself]

#1 I hope the UK/US support the Egyptian Army too as MB is not the way forward. |
