Last month more than 1,000 people were killed across Iraq.
Stars and Stripes has a version of the story here. It's too bad the Iraqis didn't figure this out in 2009 or so when we were there and we could arrange for some of our people to stay. But the Iraqis couldn't agree on a Status of Forces Agreement, nor could they agree on what we'd do to help them. Maliki couldn't even say unequivocally that we were needed and would be welcome.

So now you need us. Get in line. Ingrates.
