U.N. Says Central African Republic Poses 'Serious Threat' |
2013-08-16 |
[An Nahar] The U.N. Security Council warned Wednesday that turmoil in the Central African Republic poses a "serious threat" to the country and the region, and urged new measures to restore stability. A unanimous declaration of the 15 council members did not specify what these new options could be, but a recent report by U.N. Secretary General ![]() ... of whom it can be said to his credit that he is not Kofi Annan... recommended sanctions against officials from the Seleka coalition suspected of committing atrocities. According to U.N. Special Representative Babacar Gaye, the threat of sanctions is a form of pressure to improve the human rights When they're defined by the state or an NGO they don't mean much... situation in the Central African Republic. The Central African Republic has been sliding into chaos since Seleka rebels took over in March, with reports of executions, looting and epidemics. |

#1 A serious threat to whom? To people there? Executions, looting, epidemics? Its some swamp 9,000 miles away and that is a serious threat? Not to me it isn't...maybe it is to Banky Moon, but that is his problem. Sleep with the dogs and when you wake up maybe you can look forward to going over and sleeping with the fishes.. Its your bed, Moonboy. Not mine. |
