| Bahrain warns against attending protest rallies | |

Minister of State for Information Affairs and official spokesperson of the government Samira Ibrahim bin Rajab told the media on Sunday following a meeting that the so-called "Rebellion of Bahrain" movement was initiated by the so-called "14 February" Group, whose members were currently facing trial, including Al Wefaq Society represented by its secretary-general. In response to a question on the rebellion movement's call to take to the streets on August 14, the spokesperson emphasised that constitutional channels were available in Bahrain and those who have legitimate demands can go and register their demands there. In Bahrain, there is a Legislative Authority, whose members represent the will of the people, and other establishments where demands can be made, without resorting to violence or terrorism, the spokesperson added, noting that participation in the so-called "Rebellion of Bahrain" movement will be illegal. The spokesperson pointed out a recent increase in acts of violence and said that all allegations made so far aimed at serving political agendas rather than seeking reforms. The spokesperson added that the kingdom's success in restoring security and stability has exposed the real intentions of some parties, and therefore, they are trying to prove the contrary in order to be able to achieve their political agendas which, she said, have nothing to do with reforms. | |
