Indiana school district loses $300K because students refuse to buy first lady's healthy meals
2013-07-12
[WASHINGTONTIMES] School officials in Carmel Clay, Ind., said they lost $300,000 last school year because students are rejecting the healthy menu changes brought on by First Lady Michelle Obama's federal lunch regulations. "I've had a lot of complaints, especially with the little guys," Linda Wireman, a food service director for North White School Corp., told JCOnline. "They get a three-quarters cup of vegetables, but if it's something they don't like, it goes down the garbage disposal. So there are a lot of complaints they're going home hungry."
When I was a child, by Gum, we ate meat loaf and liked it. If you didn't like meat loaf you went hungry. Except for Fridays, when we got fish sticks. The schools also bought their own meat loaf and fish sticks, without the feds dictating what they should buy and recirculating tax dollars with a 40 percent rakeoff to support the Department of Education. And we had prayer in the schools. I'd have never passed seventh grade math without school prayer.

#7  Cancelled subscriptions Bobby. I have a lunch box ready for my daughter.

Lower calorie intake to reduce energy.
Lower salt so sweating is not effective during exercise.
Exercise such as running is not allowed.
Conforming corriculum contrary to belief system.
Unwanted sexual education.
If this was Guantanamo, there would be outrage.

Some Kansas kids

When I was a young wrestler, I could eat 2 double whoppers with cheese and be hungry by 4.

#6  I've got a mind to put "healthy" in scare quotes.

We've seen from the CDCs salt debacle (low salt is bad for you, high salt is merely excreted) that the government and healthy make and oxymoron.

#5  Not sure how they calculated that. They measured what went down the disposal? Or $300 grand was left on the shelves because no one would eat it?

Not that I doubt Moochelle's ditats are unwelcome, BTW.

#2  Simple, gorb. It's like how you make a rope longer by cutting some off one end and tying it on the other. Or Daylight Savings Time.

#1  I cannot figure out for the life of me why states give money to the Feds in one form or another just so 75% of the money can be returned later.
