Did Goolsbie illegally peek at tax records?
2013-07-07
More malfeasance at the IRS as an Obama top political operative gets an illegal peek at some tax records. IRS is saying they have the inspector general's report, but they won't admit its existence, or release its contents.

To clarify, Goolsbie allegedly looked at the documents while he was Obama's economic adviser. He quit two years ago declaring victory in economic policy.

From TFA:
The Treasury Department on Wednesday refused to confirm or deny the existence of an inspector general report investigating whether or not former White House economic adviser Austan Goolsbee illegally accessed tax information on the Koch brothers.

The Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA), in response to a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request filed by the Washington Free Beacon, declined to acknowledge the existence of the report.
Information like that would tempt the White House the way the Apple tempted Eve. Champ was bound and determined to ensure that he knew who his enemies were in 2012. When Citizens United took away the ability to use the FEC, he went to the IRS. The IRS of course is filled with Democrats and they were only too happy to do as they were (indirectly) asked. If someone wanted the Koch returns, they were happy to offer them up. Goolsbie would be a great one to deliver them to; high enough in the food chain to get the word to the right people in the campaign, and yet not so high as to bring down Champ if it leaked. Witness this news now -- anyone outraged at all? Anyone? Bueller?
