Three policemen were killed and two bystanders were injured when a pair of unidentified gunmen opened fire in Dagestan. The gunmen killed the three Russian policemen on the spot. The shootout left one of the attackers dead at the scene, while the other was killed while trying to flee, the Investigative Committee said.
In a separate statement, the National Anti-Terror Committee said officials had found suicide belts packed with homemade explosives in an apartment in Dagestan's largest city of Makhachkala. Each belt carried the equivalent of around 200 grams of TNT.
