Terrorist who killed police chief slain in southern Thailand
2013-05-31
A suspected terrorist insurgent accused of killing former district police chief Pol Gen Sompian Eksomya three years ago was slain in a gunfight with security forces in Bannang Sata yesterday.

Two suspected terrorists rebels were killed in the clash as police and rangers raided their hideout yesterday morning. One of them was Yukeebuelee Jehdeemae, also wanted on other security-related charges.

Authorities said he was the bomber who planted the explosive device that killed Pol Gen Sompian, who was chief of Bannang Sata police station at the time, on March 12, 2010.

A unit of police and military rangers yesterday raided a house following a tip-off that armed terrorists militants were hiding inside. The two suspects shot at authorities as they tried to escape. After the clash, Yukeebuelee's body was found near a kubo (a Muslim cemetery). The body of another terror rebel suspect Reedawal Laeha, was also found in a ditch nearby.
