#12 The individuals are taxed so why should the group also be taxed. As long as businesses and groups buy politicians to bail them out or cut them patronage, they can pay like the rest of us. |

#11 Sales tax is just a deferred income tax. |

#10 rj, forget it. The purpose of the income tax is not only to raise revenue. It also a means to encourage "good" behavior, discourage "bad" behavior, and to reward/punish the friends/enemies of those in power. |

#9 "Other than the long established separation of church and state, why should there be any tax exemption group? Remove it. Issue and problem solved." Guess you are for the corporate tax as well. I lean the other way. The individuals are taxed so why should the group also be taxed. Sales tax is different. Hopefully with this IRS brew-ha-ha we'll finally get the numbers required to change the tax system to a flat tax. |

#8 the 118 visits in 2010-2011 to the WH by the head of the IRS As opposed to less than a handful with the predecessor administration. |

#7 Winky - Even if they didn't find anything they sometimes 'leaked' information to the MSM lapdogs - even if they had to make stuff up. See the whole Romney Tax coverage... |

#6 Did Obama's IRS create a special political unit? Does a bear crap in the woods? Is the pope Catholic? Do Muslims chop off heads? |

#5 The tax code itself is the tool of power and corruption. Even with evidence that a flat-tax and non-deduction / exemption system would increase revenues and facilitate productivity the GIVERnment would not be able to wield its power. The tax system punishes political opponents and curries favors to the crony elites. This latest episode is just another chapter in the corruption encyclopedia. |

#4 Other than the long established separation of church and state, why should there be any tax exemption group? Remove it. Issue and problem solved. |

#3 Might explain the 118 visits in 2010-2011 to the WH by the head of the IRS. You have to keep a close eye on those new..... units. [sarc off] |

#2 IRS most likely were trying to find any kind of tax evasion they could about an opposition but came up with squeaky clean audits. Then went after another and another until someone noticed and without any mud on the opposition, suddenly they ended up with being the ones with mud on thier faces. If they had found dirt they would no doubt have had their MSM buddies do big stories on the evasion hoping to harm the opposition. But they could find no dirt and now the illegal use of federal power has been exposed. |

#1 If the IRS did create a special unit, it likely wasn't just a management-only decision: 09 December 2009 - President Obama signs Executive Order 13522, Creating Labor-Management Forums To Improve Delivery of Government Services. |
