| 'Qaida' Gunmen Kill Two in Yemen Attack |

| [ AnNahar] Suspected al-Qaeda bully boyz killed a policeman and a civilian in a grenade attack on a checkpoint in southeastern Yemen on Saturday, a security official and witnesses said. The two assailants threw a grenade at the police checkpoint in the coastal town of Al-Shihr in Hadramawt province, the sources said, adding that two other coppers were maimed. The security official said the attack bore the hallmarks of al-Qaeda bad turbans, who are active in the region, without giving further details. Fighters loyal to al-Qaeda have seized villages near the port city of Mukalla, the Hadramawt capital, in an apparent bid to take over parts of the province, the interior ministry said on Friday. It said the uprising in Hadramawt would suffer the "same fate as that in Abyan ...a governorate of Yemen. The region was a base to the Aden-Abyan Islamic Army terrorist group until it dropped the name and joined al-Qaeda. Its capital is Zinjibar. In March 2011, al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula declared the governate an Islamic Emirateafter seizing control of the region. The New York Times fastidiously reported that those in control, while Islamic hard boyz, are not in fact al-Qaeda, but something else that looks, tastes, smells, and acts the same.
