Imran Khan alleges rigging in elections |

[Dawn] Chief of the Pakistain Tehrik-e-Insaaf (PTI) Imran Khan![]() ... aka Taliban Khan, who is the lightweight's lightweight... has reportedly alleged rigging in the election after accepting defeat while also indicating that the party would sit in the opposition benches of the National Assembly. Khan's allegations came a day after Paks went to polls in a historic general elections which would see a smooth transition of power from one democratically elected government to another. His first public remarks, made in a televised statement, came 17 hours after his main rival, former prime minister and chief of Pakistain Moslem League -- Nawaz (PML-N) ![]() ... served two non-consecutive terms as prime minister, heads the Pakistain Moslem League (Nawaz). Noted for his spectacular corruption, the 1998 Pak nuclear test, border war with India, and for being tossed by General Musharraf... , declared victory. Khan had vowed that the polls would sweep his PTI into power. On Saturday, Sharif declared victory in the May 11 national polls, saying his party would fulfil all the promises made to the people of Pakistain. Sharif added that he was certain that his party would emerge as the single largest party that needed no outside support or "borrowed seats". |
