#9  If Assad does not survive, some other ruthless anti-American and anti-Israeli tyrant, whom we do not yet know will rule Syria.

This other tyrant will have a record of being affiliated with the terrorists who staged the 9/11 attacks. As someone who was in the subway tunnel underneath one of the towers as one of the planes hit, I have a problem with that.

#8  Putin will win a deal on this. Just let Russia stay and forget Assad. This is politics so anything can happen. Just send money. EU wants out but they want control of the money flow. Turkey will win here also. If I were Kurdish I would be worried. Russia could win many long term benefits here.

#5  Scenario #1: If Assad survives [which is quite likely], a ruthless anti-American and anti-Israeli tyrant will continue to rule Syria.

...who sponsors terrorists, but never actually went to war against Israel, being perfectly willing to let Iran carry that burden.

Scenario #2: If Assad does not survive, some other ruthless anti-American and anti-Israeli tyrant, whom we do not yet know will rule Syria.

There appear to be no other scenarios, choose wisely.

#3  Claims that early American intervention could have imposed a simple and clean settlement are illusory.

Quite profound. I hope all in congress read and memorized that key sentence.
