Two Thai rangers killed in violence across Pattani
2013-04-11
A trawler was damaged by a bomb and six other locations in Pattani province were hit by violence on Wednesday night, killing two military rangers.

A fishing boat at a pier in Muang district was bombed after 8 p.m. but no injuries were reported. A witness saw people believed to be terrorists insurgents approach the trawler in a small boat and plant a bomb at the rear of the vessel.

Terrorists Militants were also behind incidents in Kapho, Panare, Khok Pho, Yarang and Sai Buri districts, with apparently coordinated attacks around 8 p.m.

Suspected terrorists insurgents attacked a defense volunteers base in Kapo and a community center in Panare. A vocational training center in Sai Buri municipality and a public telephone booth in front of the Panare post office were burned.

Two rangers, one of them a lieutenant, were killed by terrorists insurgents during the attack on the community center in Panare.

Violence has intensified in the region since peace talks began, with officials specifically targeted. Terrorists Insurgents last week killed Yala deputy governor and the province's assistant governor. The two were killed by a roadside bomb attack on Friday.

The deaths raise doubts about Barisan Revolusi Nasional (BRN) representatives' ability to direct terrorists militants in the region to ease their attacks as a show of their intention to end the violence.
