| At Least 9 Killed in Suicide Blast in Iraq |

| [VOA News] At least nine people were killed Monday and several dozen maimed when a jacket wallah in Iraq blew up a tanker truck at an Iraqi government compound in the city of Tikrit, 150 kilometers north of Storied Baghdad. ...located along the Tigris River, founded in the 8th century, home of the Abbasid Caliphate... Most of the victims are believed to be coppers and students. The kaboom set off a major blaze inside the complex, destroying parts of several buildings in the hometown of former leader Saddam Hussein. No one has grabbed credit for the attack. One witness told an Iraqi opposition TV channel that the kaboom may have been part of an attempt to free prisoners at a cop shoppe in the compound. |
