Sectarian clashes in central Nigeria kill 23: Military |

![]() Details of the 20 and 21 March attacks were slow to emerge from Plateau state, which falls on the dividing line between Nigeria's mostly Christian south and predominately Mohammedan north. Military front man Lieutenant Jude Akpa said that 11 members of the mainly Mohammedan Fulani ethnic group, known largely as nomadic herders, were killed on 20 March after crossing onto land belonging to members of a Christian tribe called the Ataka. |
