Taliban kidnap 10 soldiers in north Afghanistan
2013-03-26
[Iran Press TV] Talibs have kidnapped at least 10 Afghan National Army soldiers along with a doctor in the country's northeastern province of Badakhshan.

Provincial governor front man Abdul Marouf Rasikh said on Monday that the individuals were kidnapped by Taliban members during a military operation in the rugged Warduj district three days earlier. Rasikh added that negotiations have been started to free the army soldiers and the doctor from the Taliban captivity.

Earlier this month, Taliban members killed as many as 17 Afghan soldiers in the Badakhshan province.
So hoping for success in the 'negotiations' may be premature...
The incident began when a supply convoy of Afghan soldiers was ambushed by the gun-hung tough guys on March 3, with one soldier killed and 22 others captured in the Warduj district.

Negotiations using tribal elders as go-betweens were carried out and six of the soldiers were released alive, but 16 more were executed by the Taliban.

The bodies of the slain army personnel were later turned over to Afghan authorities.

#1  Keep an eye out for them at a nearby base - they may be released and families not killed if they repent and wear a bomb vest where directed.
