Up to 60,000 patients die on the Liverpool Care Pathway each year without giving their consent, shocking figures revealed yesterday.

A third of families are also kept in the dark when doctors withdraw lifesaving treatment from loved ones.

Despite the revelations, Jeremy Hunt last night claimed the pathway was a ‘fantastic step forward’.

#3  "Is this an admission of a guilty conscience?"

Doubtful, EH. They'd have to have a conscience first. >:-(

#1  The name that the NHS gave this treatment regimen is oddly bland and not descriptive at all.

The geographical location of the institution that developed it is irrelevant, and every hospital patient can be said to be on a 'care pathway.'

They chose a euphemism. Is this an admission of a guilty conscience?
