Former village official killed in southern Thailand |

A former village leader was killed and a territorial defense volunteer injured in a drive-by shooting in Pattani province on Wednesday afternoon. The dead man was identified as Suwan Kaewsrinaw, former assistant leader of Ban Khlong Tam in PattaniÂ’s Panare district. The injured man is Ong-art Inthakan, a defense volunteer in the same district. He was admitted to the hospital. Witnesses said the victims were traveling on a motorcycle on a rural road when gunmen on two other motorcycles fired on them with pistols. The attackers then fled. Mr Suwan died on the spot.
