troop operations on Tuesday in parts of the capital Mehtar Lam resulted in the deaths of as many as 20 Islamic fascisti and two ANA soldiers, while 10 more Islamic fascisti were maimed.
The military operations ran from between 5:00AM to 2:30PM local time in the Armal, Pahlawan Baba, and Abu Zai areas of the capital, he added.
Isaf Joint Command confirmed one of the operations in the Abu Zai bridge area.
Spokesperson Maj. Martyn Crighton said a joint force including ANA troops, uniformed police and a small contingent of coalition troops were carrying out an operation when they came under attack from a large number of armed cut-thoats.
