#6 One interesting thing he did was go to Nicaragua and subsequently to report atrocities committed by the Sandinistas against the local Indians. This caused the supporters of the Sandinistas (notably Senator John Kerry) considerable irritation. |

#5 I met him also a few times - he relayed to me that his biggest disappointment was his failure to gain widespread support from American Indians for his idea of a sovereign Republic of the Lakotah, aka Native American Republic, in the US. Coincidentally he also believed Indians tribes from Canada could join later after the republic was established first in the lower 48. |
