And these brilliant words of wisdom were uttered by a graduate of Yale. I know two personally and a few casually. My son-in-law is one the other a marine that was in afgahistan

"Come back to the area where my helicopter was forced down, with a three-star general and three senators at 10,500 feet in the middle of those mountains. I can tell you where they are."

In February 2008, Biden along with Sens. John Kerry, D-Mass., and Chuck Hagel, R-Neb. was on a chopper that made an emergency landing in the mountains of Afghanistan. A snowstorm had forced them down. No one was injured, and the Associated Press reported at the time that "the senators and their delegation returned to Bagram Air Base in a motor convoy, and left for Turkey.

"The weather closed in on us," Kerry told the AP at the time in a phone interview from Turkey. "It went pretty blind, pretty fast and we were around some pretty dangerous ridges. So the pilot exercised his judgment that we were better off putting down there, and we all agreedWe sat up there and traded stories." Kerry joked, "We were going to send Biden out to fight the Taliban with snowballs, but we didnt have to do itOther than getting a little cold, it was fine."

A quarter of all applicants to the armed forces are disqualified because they can't meet education standards, and another quarter cause they can't meet fitness standards. Their reference point is the old draft system that's been gone since the early 70s [which seems to match their concepts of failed government programs from the same era].

#10 I know a ton due to being a "contractor". And I've buried 4, including the 19 year old son of a friend back in 04 (Iraq).

I'm surprised he asked that at a Dem function - after all, a solid part of that party despises the military, and the elitists there think its for people that are beneath them and their family. After all thier last candidate (who is a friend of Harry Reid and Joe Biden) said this:

You know, education, if you make the most of it, if you study hard and you do your homework, and you make an effort to be smart, uh, you, you can do well. If you dont, you get stuck in Iraq.

#6 Bobby, please thank your son and nephew for their service to our country at your next opportunity and express my deepest respect to the families of the two soldiers who paid the ultimate price for our freedom.

I too, know four people who served our nation in Iraq and Afghanistan and upon learning of their service, I thanked each of them with a warm hand shake, a hug, and pat on their shoulders. I told them that without people like you our nation would not be as strong and vital, your service has help to keep our nation strong and your work has helped to provide the potential to the people of Iraq and Afghanistan to gain there own freedoms. Thank you.
