#2  The helos got through Pakistani airspace because there was cooperation from elements within the Pak military (at least the air defense), their intelligence community and the civilian government.

If the raid had failed, the rest of the Pakistani defense structure would have been alerted. I highly doubt that drones would have been able to loiter above the compound waiting for escapees; the idea that "until bombers to eliminate compound" unopposed is fatuous.

Likely the current Pak government would have fallen. As much as we berate the one now, the successor government would not have been an improvement.

#1  why would not the plan be: raid first, if it fails contain with drones until bombers could eliminate compound?
