on the occasion of the anniversary of the October 1973 Arab-Israeli War.
He said: "Your country is passing through one of its most difficult tests and I am certain that your experience in defying Israel will enable you to overcome your current crisis."
"We are certain that you will meet the expectations of your people and set an example of democracy and freedom," he added.
"We are certain that Syria will return as strong as it used to be in order to take restore its role in defying Israel and in order to build a secure and stable future," continued the speaker.
Berri hoped that Syria will maintain its support for the Paleostinian people in their struggle against Israel.
"On the occasion of the memory of the October war, I would like to salute the heroic Syrian people and its courageous army for their enduring accomplishment of breaking down enemy positions and raising the Syrian flag over the Golan Heights," he said in the cable.
The speaker also sent a similar cable to Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi.
The 1973 Arab--Israeli War was fought from October 6 to 25, 1973, between Israel and a number of Arab states led by Egypt and Syria.
