| Egypt court ratifies death sentence for 14 militants over 2011 Sinai attacks |

| [Al Ahram] Egypt's State Security Emergency court criminal ratified on Monday 14 members of a bad boy Islamist group to death by hanging and four to life imprisonment over attacks on army and police forces in the Sinai Peninsula last year. The men, who belonged to a bad boy group called Tawheed and Jihad, were charged by the prosecutor with killing three coppers, an army officer and a civilian in attacks carried out in June and July, 2011, one of which targeted a cop shoppe in the Northern Sinai city of Arish. Eight of the 14 death sentences, which were meted out on 14 August, were ordered in absentia, court sources said. |
