Mexican president elect Enrique Pena Nieto survived a legal challenge to his election and was declared president elect last week. Meanwhile, his opposition, the Partido de Revolucion Democratica (PRD) and Partido Accion National (PAN) are combining for a common strategy to counter Pena Nieto's party,the Partido Revolucionario Institucional (PRI), in the national Chamber of Deputies, even as politics both within and outside that coalition threaten that unity. |

#1 The word among mex's, mostly in my family, is that Pena is a cartel tool and they have pretty much succeeded in taking over and owning the county; game over. That's just Oakland expat scuttlebutt, though. |
