[Yemen Post] Tribal sabotuers bombed late on Tuesday the Marib oil pipeline triggering an immediate halt to pumping crude to the Ras Isa terminal in the western port city of Hodeida, officials at the oil and minerals ministry said. "Transporting crude from Marib and Shabwa provinces through this pipeline has been halted because the attack was big," one of the officials said Wednesday.
"The authorities have been working hard to prevent sabotage attacks on this key pipeline after it was repaired in July following repeated attacks in October," the official continued. "It is difficult to watch every single person in this notorious province. Any primitive easily becomes a saboteur, but we will continue to do our best to prevent more attacks".
The Marib pipeline resumed operation in July after a nine-month halt that contributed to fund and fuel shortages as Yemen is struggling to return the situation to normal after the turmoil.
The attack came a day after sources in Marib spoke of attempted attacks on the natural gas pipeline which has been attacked almost six times this year, mostly by Al-Qaeda orcs. Yemen's oil and gas pipelines are subjected to sabotage attacks by cut-throats and rustics who usually carry out such acts to pressure the government to meet demands including the release of imprisoned relatives or fellows.
The Marib pipeline carries about 110.000 barrels a day.
