The contingent was patrolling Dhoda Road area of the city when a remote-controlled bomb went
kaboom!, injuring at least 10 coppers including an additional SHO.
Seven of the injured gave up the ghost on the way to a nearby hospital.
The additional SHO was among the dead.
Three more injured are reported to be at death's door.
Law enforcement agencies have cordoned off the area and started an initial investigation into the incident.
