| #2 I know, right? I hear they have this new weapon called a Poverty Bomb. It can be slipped into a businessman's briefcase, apparently. The first thing that happens when it is released is that it causes an irrational desire on the part of politicians to start giving away the treasury and lend huge amounts of money to people who can't afford to pay it back. Then the value of real property begins to plummet resulting in unbridled borrowing and printing of money to dump into the economy in futile attempts to inflate the problem away. Finally, the spending gets so out of control as interest on the debt explodes that the target country can no longer afford a military force. The military is eventually reduced to 19th century levels to the point where the Mexican Army could wipe them out. Hey, wait a minute .... |
