Thai terrorists plan new strike in Songkhla | |

A security source says the Barisan Revolusi Nasional Coordinate insurgent group plans to infiltrate Songkhla's Hat Yai district in preparation for a possible fresh strike. Intelligence reports indicate that Masae Useng, a suspected leader of the group, had sent Songkhla's internal security operations office has ordered all vehicles and motorcycles traveling in the commercial area of Hat Yai to leave open their backs and pillions as part of security precautions. The Police Operating Center for the Southern Border Provinces has issued a warning to watch out for five stolen pickup trucks that could be used as car bombs. The warning said eight pickup trucks and sedans were stolen in eight incidents between July 19, 2006, and March 29 this year in the deep south, and six of the owners were killed. Three of those vehicles were used as car bombs last weekend _ two in Yala municipality and one at the Lee Gardens Plaza Hotel. In Pattani, Pol Maj Gen Pichet Pititseth, the provincial police chief, has told plain-clothes officers to investigate garages suspected of modifying vehicles used by In Panare district, Ha Masalae, the owner of a car care shop, was gunned down and Masukree Masalae, his son, was injured when they were attacked yesterday.
