| Former Minister threatens to Join Secession Movement |

| [Yemen Post] Former Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Saleh Basura threatened to join those calling for the separation of South Yemen from the North due to lack of dialogue. "If we could not discuss the problems of Yemen through understanding, I will call for secession to get rid of the lawlessness you live" Basura said in a seminar held Sunday in Sana'a about the GCC-drawn power transfer deal. The comments of the minister were faced with dissatisfaction and sharp criticisms among the participators. One southern activist and chairman of a civil society organization, Intisar Al-Hodali, vividly slammed Basura. She dubbed him dubbing as a traitor of the southern case, pointing out that he sided with Saleh when he was repressing peaceful protests. A working paper presented by Ahmed Al-Sofi, the media assistant of the former president President-for-Life Ali Abdullah Saleh ... Saleh initially took power as a strongman of North Yemen in 1977, when disco was in flower, but he didn't invite Donna Summer to the inauguration and Blondie couldn't make it... , was faced with discontent of the participators. Al-Sofi said that the success of the GCC imitative relies on removing protesters camped for months in change and freedom squares. Basura described, during the seminar, the GCC deal as a lifeboat for Yemen, calling all sides to commit to it and its scheduled implementations techniques. He pointed out that some points of the GCC deal were not implemented so far, urging the interim government to fulfill them. "If you want Yemen to stay unified and stable and that a civil state is created, the GCC deal must be implemented" he added. "If you want the solution of Yemen's impasses, you should head to national dialogue." Working papers were presented by Yemen's different factions including the General People Congress, the Joint Meeting Parties, the Houtih group and the Southern Movement. |
