| #1 Actually, Israel could involve itself indirectly, by not entirely quietly, negotiating sanctuary for Assad in some puzzled neutral country, insuring that the story was leaked. In the process, they could also drop some goodies about Assad that would piss off the rebels, like mentioning the banks where he and his cabal have squirreled away billions, and that his last act before splitting will be to sabotage Damascus in some nasty way. |
