One soldier killed, another wounded in southern Thailand |

One soldier was killed and another injured by a bomb blast while escorting teachers to a school in Yala province on Tuesday morning. A team of six soldiers on three motorcycles was escorting the teachers to school. As they passed over a bridge, an improvised bomb buried nearby was detonated. The explosion seriously injured Sgt-Maj Pradit Soranatrai, 52, the team leader, and Pvt Yutthana Daraporn, 22. They were rushed to the hospital where Sgt-Maj Pradit was pronounced dead. Village leader shot at tea shop An assistant village leader was seriously wounded in a shooting at a teashop in Yala province Tuesday morning. Rormuelee Maseng, 47, was drinking tea at a teashop on when a gunman walked in and shot at him three times. Rormuelee fired back but missed and the attacker fled. Rormuelee was hit three times and taken to the hospital. |
