FIVE non-operational grenades were found inside a piece of checked luggage at Newark Liberty Airport, US federal officials said.The grenades, determined to be inert, were discovered on Saturday in the bag of a Belgium-bound passenger who surrendered the items, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) said in a statement.
There was no impact to airport operations, the TSA said.
TSA officials also said they found a credit card knife in the wallet of a passenger headed to Los Angeles on Saturday. The knife was similar to one confiscated on November 22 during the Thanksgiving travel week.
