33 Civilians, 19 Regime Troops Killed as Syria Clashes Rage |

For its part the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said security forces rubbed out 16 people in Daraa and that at least 19 soldiers and members of the security forces were killed in festivities with suspected army defectors. In a statement received by Agence La Belle France Presse, the Observatory said the non-combatants were killed by gunfire from checkpoints across Daraa manned by the security forces. The Britannia-based group also said the bodies of five soldiers, including a general, were also found in the northwestern Idlib province bordering Turkey. #1 Latest report is 34 regime soldiers dead yesterday. That number has been moving up for weeks and indicates large numbers of desertions. One aspect of Syria is how geographically dispersed population centres are. There will be a lot of men and machines moving between the north and south trying to contain flashpoints. |
