5 reasons Obama will take military action against Iran
2011-11-10

#16  The bloody debacle that is Afghanistan will prevent pre-emptive strikes such as against Iran for a generation.

When the histories are written there will be a straight line from the 'good war' in Afghanistan to outbreaks of regional conflict, likely leading to nuclear exchanges.

My apologies - I had you confused with another myopically pro-Obama troll. What's really embarassing is taht I shoudl have known better, since there are so few of you.

And by the way, Spokane is no improvement.

#14  abu do you love, I love the way you spelled 0bama with a zero instead of an O. I don't know if its intentional but it is subtle and brilliant.

#13  MR.0 as you call him but can't admit when a job is well done.

Nonsense. President Obama has gotten plenty of credit here at Rantburg for the Predator campaigns, and even for the bin Laden raid. Just because you allow your dislike for us to blind you to reality does not mean we do the same. It does render you pitiable in our eyes, but that can't be helped.

Congratulations on living in Spokeane. I understand there are fewer gangs there, and considerably fewer of the more dreadful kind of Los Angelenos.

#12  Just like the 1930's when everybody was afraid to deal with Hitler. Nobody could imagine what he would eventually do. These days nobody likes to think about Iran with nukes and the kind of trouble they could make.

#9  G(rom), it's our long-inflicting, myopically pro-Obama troll from the Los Angeles area.

I don't think Mr. Obama will take military action. He would alienate the majority of his political base, for one thing. I don't believe there's little to no support for action within his foreign policy team, for another.

Further, at the risk of sounding pedantic, Iran is not Libya or Egypt. It's closer to Syria in that there's powerful backers, no clear international support for intervention (and hence no coalition), and likely severe political repercussions if things 'go south'.

Factor in domestic and international economic conditions and a weakened political standing, and I'd be quite surprised if anything will happen.

#6  All of them seem to be reasons for Obumbles *not* to take military action.

1) Obama wants Zero nukes for the West. So won't care about Iran.
2) I don't think O thinks Iran is irrational - at least not as irrational as those "teabaggers"...
3) As mentioned in other comments - For O this is a good thing.
4) O himself has terrorist ties (Ayers).
5) Again - for O this is a good thing. (Threatens American Hegemony);

#5  He'll probably try more negotiation. Iran hates Israel, so Obama & Iran are starting from common ground.

#4  Not a single one of the reasons listed in the article make any sense when one consders the character of 0bama. The one about Israel seems a pretty good reason for 0bama to NOT take action. I would also be that the argument about regional stability also plays to the 'take no action' option for him as he hopes for higher and higher energy prices to further cripple the US economy and to bring about 'green' change via economic means.

#3  Fortunately, he's very fond of golfing.

#2  It would be one thing if he told the troops to do it, and then went golfing.
It would be another if he tried to tell the troops how to do it.
