Sana'a: Rayan Hills are Turned Into a Defense Military Base
2011-11-09
[Yemen Post] Amidst news that President-for-Life Saleh
... exemplifying the Arab's propensity to combine brutality with incompetence...
will sign on Thursday the power-transfer deal brokered by the Gulf Coalition Council which will in essence announce the end of his presidency and hold over Yemen, sources within the military are revealing interesting plans.

Several high ranking officers and sources within Sana'a governor's office revealed that President President-for-Life Ali Abdullah Saleh
... Saleh initially took power as a strongman of North Yemen in 1977, when disco was in flower, but he didn't invite Donna Summer to the inauguration and Blondie couldn't make it...
was transferring an impressive range of weapons defense system onto Rayan Hills, which was once destined to be a Qatari real estate venture in the capital.

Directly overlooking Hadda, a southern district of Sana'a, home to many officials, diplomats and presidential family members, and most importantly the presidential palace itself; the Hills present an undisputed strategic position.

For several weeks now, the stream of military convoys has been arriving at the site, and soldiers were seen unloading heavy weapons and other military equipment. Builders were ordered to level the grounds for anti-aircraft guns and state of the art surveillance system to be installed.

Furthermore, the Defense Ministry has been actively recruiting young men into the army, wanting to biff up its troops in what many believe could be a preparation for an armed conflict similar to that of 1994 when Saleh attacked South Yemen despite the issuance of not one but two UN Security Council resolution.
