| [Yemen Post] Taiz: For the 4th consecutive day the town was heavily shelled all through night given its residents a respite only in the early hours of the morning. And even then residents reported some sporadic gun fighting across several districts as they said the People Protectors (Taiz independent army) was battling out the government forces. According to residents inside Taiz, snipers loyal to the revolution are scattered throughout the town, shooting to kill at any person wearing an official uniforms: Republican Guards, Central Security Forces and so on... Taiz army is mainly formed of former soldiers, dissidents of the regime, police officers and young recruit who said to be willing to defend their Freedom actively. Despite the clashes of arms demonstrators are still willing to march through the town to denounce they say the regime multitude of crimes against its peaceful population. Many said that although they supported the moved made by the PPs they still very much believed that peaceful was louder than the sounds of weapons and more in keeping with the will of the Yemeni. "We want to show the World that we are peaceful...in the same time we have to defend our families and our homes from the aggressors [the regime forces]," said a man from Taiz under cover of anonymity. No casualties so far. Sana'a: A protesters who was kidnapped on September 21st was found delirious in Sana'a . The man now suffers amnesia and according to medical report suffered severe injuries. They added that they strongly believed the man was tortured and suffered traumas of such consequence that he is now mentally impaired. "Amnesia is often the mind defense mechanism. A way to cope away from the pain, way from the unbearable," Said a doctor. As acts of violence increase in the capital, residents are talking of organizing Neighborhood Watch groups. Only yesterday a man's car was taken at gunpoint as he was shopping at a supermarket in Hadda (south district of the capital). Despite a somewhat respite in the capital, residents and protesters are worry that the recent "victories" of the Opposition (a delegation is expected to meet with the Saudi King and Crown Prince) will push Saleh over the edge and signal war. Others in "The Square" are said to "be ready for every eventuality, claiming that "it doesn't matter either way since God is on their sides." Defected General Mohsen has become a bit of a hero in "Change Square" since his Eid confessions of sort as he now symbolizes for many the death of the old ways and the rebirth of nationalism. Several protesters actually said to want to join the defected army to protect their fellow demonstrators in a move similar to that of the people of Taiz. More banners are now calling for Saleh to be taken to the ICC and his assets frozen. No demonstration scheduled today as people continue to celebrate Eid with their families. Ibb: Despite being revolutionary and very much for the toppling of the regime many protesters do not agree with al-Islahization of the revolution as they view negatively the presence of too many members of al-Islah on the Opposition. "We want to remain independent. Yemen needs not to be freed from one dictator to fall in the hands of another group. We need politic pluralism and a real democratic system," said a protester. |
