115-year-old electric car gets same 40 miles to the charge as Chevy Volt |

[Daily Caller] Meet the Roberts electric car. Built in 1896, it gets a solid 40 miles to the charge -- exactly the mileage Chevrolet advertises for the Volt -- the much-touted $31,645 electric car General Motors CEO Dan Akerson called "not a step forward, but a leap forward." The executives at Chevrolet can rest easy for now. Since the Roberts was constructed in an age before Henry Ford's mass production, the 115-year-old electric car is one of a kind. |

#6 Charles E. Roberts served as the President and Director of the Chicago Screw Company I would have thought this honor would have gone to a modern day Chicago politician. The Roberts EV was somewhat like a modern day battery powered golf cart. |

#5 Couldn't you totally see Jon Pertwee-era Doctor Who chasing The Master in one? Slowly, of course. |

#4 They can't make a decent electric car until they undo all the big legacy mistakes, such as the decision to denote electrons as having negative charge. |

#3 I'm surprised---would've expected an electric car build in 1896 to be better than the current green efforts. |

#2 You know, I was watching that show with the wheel and word puzzle solving, and up for prize was a volk. The guy didn't win, but when the lost prize was shown I swear he did not look disappointed. |

#1 Maybe, but did it have a cool LED display to let you know which way the electrons were flowing? |
